If a fire starts in your house you can have as little as two minutes to escape to safety. An early warning from a working smoke alarm plus a fire escape plan that is regularly practised can save the lives of you and your family. Here are a few tips.

  • Install smoke alarms on the different floors of your home, inside bedrooms and sleeping areas.
  • Test the smoke alarms at least monthly. If they’re not working, change the batteries.
  • Discuss a fire escape plan with your family members and practice the plan at least twice a year.
  • If a fire occurs, Get Out, Stay Out and Call For Help. NEVER go back inside for anything or anyone.
