OPERATION
- Firefighters work on a 24 / 48 hour rotational shift
- On-duty Firefighters are physically based on site during their 24 hour shift and responding to the incident with an operational vehicle
- The number of responding vehicles are determined by the Dispatching Officer
- Vehicles also roam within their area of responsibility and surrounds (where a Patch is situated)
- Calls are received through our centralised watchroom and the FIRE OPS SA First Response App from subscribed members, monitored by Officers via live radio communications
- There is a 60 second response time, from first notification to crew dispatch (90 seconds at night)
- Crews are booked in attendance within 10 - 12 minutes of receiving the first report to extinguish the fire
- Communication is live and run through direct radio connectivity and cloud-linked network lines, with direct access to all managing Officers and Chiefs
- Response vehicles and fire equipment are stored on site at the designated Patch, dedicated to clients within that particular area in the surrounds of the Patch
