  • When an incident is reported, response vehicles are dispatched and turning the key within 60 seconds during the day and 90 seconds at night .
  • This priority First Response service is exclusively available to subscribing FIRE OPS SA members.

RAPID INTERVENTION & ULTRA-HIGH-PRESSURE TECHNOLOGY

Speed is only part of an effective first response. What happens in those first critical minutes matters.

FIRE OPS SA’s Rapid Intervention Vehicles (RIVs) are purpose-built for fast deployment to emergency incidents and carry the specialist firefighting equipment our crews need to begin intervention as quickly as possible.

At the heart of each RIV is FIRE OPS SA’s Ultra-High-Pressure (UHP) firefighting system . Operating at approximately 120–140 bar , compared with approximately 6–19 bar for conventional firefighting systems , UHP technology produces a highly effective water mist designed to rapidly absorb heat, improve fire suppression and help reset internal conditions to support firefighting, search and rescue operations.

The system also uses water significantly more efficiently than conventional firefighting methods, helping to reduce secondary water damage to the property during suppression operations.

Our RIVs carry approximately 380–500 litres of water and up to 90 metres of high-pressure hose , providing crews with an immediate on-board water supply and the capability to begin firefighting operations without first establishing a hydrant connection.

Depending on fire conditions and operational requirements, this water supply can support firefighting operations for up to approximately 25 minutes . Tanks can also be replenished from suitable domestic water supplies, providing our crews with greater operational flexibility and reducing reliance on municipal hydrant infrastructure.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. REPORT THE INCIDENT
    Subscribed members can report a fire or emergency directly through the FIRE OPS SA First Response App or dedicated emergency line.
  2. WATCHROOM ACTIVATION
    The alert is received by our 24/7 Watchroom and operational team, allowing immediate communication with the client while the incident information is assessed.
  3. RAPID DISPATCH
    The nearest appropriate crew and response vehicle are dispatched from the relevant Patch. Vehicles are dispatched and turning the key within 60 seconds during the day and 90 seconds at night from receipt of the initial report.
  4. FIRST RESPONSE
    Our Rapid Intervention Vehicles and tactical firefighting crews are deployed to begin intervention as quickly as possible. Additional firefighting resources, including larger support vehicles, are mobilised according to the nature and scale of the incident.
  5. INCIDENT COMMAND
    On arrival, the FIRE OPS SA Incident Commander assumes responsibility for coordinating our operations on the fireground, managing responding crews and vehicles in conjunction with our off-site Operator for the duration of the incident.
